The Happiness Apps Challenge is an international App building challenge that is aimed to inspire minds in tech and design to create products that will increase world’s happiness quotient!

 The competition offers an opportunity to win $50,000 in prizes to developers, designers, and entrepreneurs.

 The challenge will be launched in Chicago on Oct 24, 2014 and deadline for submission is 4 January 2014.

The Apps for Happiness Challenge is sponsored by The Art Of Living Foundation.

The Art of Living Foundation (AOLF) is a non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization founded in 1981 by the world-renown philanthropist and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

 The AOLF is present in 152 countries, reaching an estimated 300 million people worldwide with a vision to create a stress free and violence free society.

 

Eligibility

Contestants must submit a new product designed specifically for the Competition or an existing product that includes functionality that is significantly different from previous versions.

 All submitted products must be solely owned by contestant such that no other party has any rights or interest, whether known or unknown; and not violate the intellectual property, common law, or privacy rights of other parties. A Contestant may contract with a third party to assist with the creation of their App, provided the Contestant is the sole and unequivocal owner of all intellectual property and licenses in the App.

 Not be indecent, defamatory, in obvious bad taste, demonstrate a lack of respect for public morals or conduct, or adversely affect the reputation of the Sponsors; be illegal under applicable laws; depict hatred, defame, threaten a specific community in the society or incite violence; contain vulgar language or violence; or contain pornography or racy activity.

Failure to comply with any of these may result in disqualification from the Competition at the Sponsors’ sole discretion.

 

Requirements

The challenge is open to individuals as well as business entities. The final product should be one of the following.

  • iOS Mobile Apps
  • Android Mobile Apps
  • Web Apps
  • Social Apps

The products must be around any one or combination of following themes:

  • Spreading and Increasing Happiness
  • Increasing work productivity through happiness
  • Reducing stress & depression

Click “Register” to access the submission form and start drafting your submission.

Create a working mobile or web app that meets the requirements above.

Take some screenshots of your app, or create a presentation or video that explains your solution.

Provide a way for us to access your app for testing.

Submit your app before the deadline - check the Dates page for more information.

If you enter a submission as a team, every member of the team must register. One person will create the submission by filling out the online submission form. The submission creator can enter the ChallengePost usernames (or email addresses used to sign up on ChallengePost) of the teammates into the "Team Member" section of the submission form. Once this has been done, the team members will be added to the submission.
